Impressionism

Impressionism is a art movement that originated with several Paris-based artists during the 19th century. The group displayed their new style of painting at independent exhibitions, which brought their work to be noticed and appreciated during the 1870s and 1880s. However, some of the work of the artist did get harsh opposition from the conventional art community in France.

 

 

Furthermore, The name for this style of work comes originally from the title of a Claude Monets work, ’ Impression, soleil levant’ . The main characteristics of this style of painting were the small thin, yet visible brushstrokes created on the paper, and how the emphasis on the light within the painting.
